For those that have limited time or enjoy hiking in seclusion, consider a lift into the alpine.  In conjunction with High Terrain Helicopters based in Nelson, we can offer you speedy access into the Purcells and Selkirk Mountains.   Experience the magnificent views on flight and the excitement of being dropped off on a remote ridge, where your hiking adventure begins. 

Enjoy walking on ridges or in alpine meadows, while soaking in unending mountain views.  Discover the signs of wildlife and unique flowers that exist in the high alpine zone.  A gourmet lunch is provided, enjoy while feasting on the Selkirk Mountain vista.

For each of our heli-hiking adventures, you will walk with a professionally trained hiking guide and interpreter.  While in the mountains, we teach you how to travel with low impact, while on flight pilots choose routes that avoid disturbing wildlife.  .

Kokanee Glacier Tour & Trek

Skip the grueling ascent from the valley and enjoy the scenic tour from Nelson and the excitement of being dropped off on an alpine ridge with your interpretive guide.  Enjoy a full day adventure, starting with a 15 minute scenic tour of the glaciated terrain of Kokanee Provincial Park.   Notice the seclusion of walking along an alpine ridge where you will be dropped off with your guide.  Spend the rest of the day taking in majestic mountain views as you traverse through the alpine landscape.  Your hike finishes at Baldface Lodge where a short trip by vehicle returns you to Nelson. 

Destination and Booking

Choose our most popular helicopter trips or contact us to create a unique itinerary into the Valhalla's, Selkirks or Purcells.  Be the first one to book a hike and you determine the level of challenge and location!  You can join a trip that is already booked or arrange a trip of your own on another day that is available. You can also book a trip exclusively for you and your group.

 In order to ensure a guide and helicopter is available, please book as far advance as possible. 

What you need to know…

Ø      A locally made organic lunch is provided for you; bring your own water and beverages.

Ø      We take a maximum of 8 people per guide for low ecological impact and your enjoyment. Youth are welcome, providing they can easily walk the distance. 

Ø      A waiver must be signer prior to the heli-hike.

Ø      Proper equipment is necessary for safety and comfort.  Bring sturdy footwear with good grip, hat & gloves, sunscreen & sunhat, rain gear.  Talk to us for hiking tips or additional suggestions.

Ø      We can provide some extra equipment such as poles, back packs, water bottles, if necessary.  

Ø      We provide a French speaking guide if requested.

Ø      We require you to meet us at the helicopter base in Nelson at a designated time and some trips require you to arrange for pick up at the trailhead at the end of the hike.

4 to 7 people         $329 each

Includes flight from Nelson or Baldface Lodge, tour of Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park, return transportation, gourmet lunch, professional guiding and interpretation.

For custom designed trips, costs will vary, depending on helicopter distance from Nelson, return route and size of group.  Contact us for a specific prices and hiking destinations.       

All rates plus 7% g.s.t.

Payment can be made in U.S. dollars at the current exchange rate.
